Check Valve NRV

A Check Valve, also known as a Non-Return Valve (NRV), is a mechanical device that allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction. It automatically prevents backflow in a piping system, ensuring that the flow direction remains consistent and protecting equipment such as pumps and compressors from damage.

Applications:

  • Water and wastewater systems
  • Oil and gas pipelines
  • HVAC systems
  • Chemical and process industries
  • Pumping systems to prevent reverse flow

Features:

One-way Flow: Allows flow in one direction only; blocks reverse flow.
Automatic Operation: Does not require any external control or actuation.
Variety of Designs: Includes swing check, lift check, ball check, and diaphragm types.
Low Maintenance: Simple design means fewer moving parts and minimal maintenance.

Advantages:

  • Prevents contamination and backflow
  • Protects pumps and other equipment
  • Simple and reliable operation

Working Principle:

When fluid flows in the correct direction, it opens the valve. If the fluid tries to flow in the reverse direction, the valve automatically closes due to gravity, backpressure, or spring force, thereby preventing backflow.
