Copper Pipes

A copper pipe is a cylindrical tube made from copper, a reddish-brown metal known for its high thermal and electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and durability. Copper pipes are widely used in plumbing, heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems due to these properties.

Types of Copper Pipes:

Type K – Thickest walls, used for underground and heavy-duty applications.
Type L – Medium wall thickness, commonly used in residential water supply.
Type M – Thinner walls, used in low-pressure residential water systems.
DWV (Drain, Waste, Vent) – Not used for pressure systems; only for drainage.

Applications:

Residential and commercial plumbing
HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) systems
Refrigeration lines
Gas supply systems (in some countries)
Medical gas systems in hospitals

Key Features:

Material: 99.9% pure copper
Color: Reddish-brown (can develop a green patina over time)
Forms: Available in rigid (hard) and flexible (soft) types
Sizes: Comes in various diameters (commonly 1/4″ to 2″ for plumbing)

Advantages:

Excellent corrosion resistance
High durability and longevity
Heat and pressure resistance
Recyclable and eco-friendly
Easy to join (by soldering, brazing, or compression fittings)
